Bright – Vivacious – Red berries – Supple
Perennial on the St. JOHN wine lists, and often the first wine rosé we introduce to the lists by the glass when the fairer weather starts to roll in, our quiet declaration of Spring! The wine is packed full of delicate fruit, but also has great concentration and often improves across the course of the year, it has a very elegant texture and a gentle salinity from the sea winds coming in off the Mediterranean.
Winemaker Margaux Gentile, protégée of the celebrated Raimond de Villeneuve, has now taken over the reins at Roquefort. Margaux’s focus is on continuing Raimond’s excellent work with the terroir and producing wines of quality with minimal intervention. The vineyards are set high in the hills of Provence, 10km away from the coast. This altitude, coupled with the cooling influence of the Mediterranean Sea, give the grapes slightly more hang time and often there is more complexity than other wines from this region.
Winemaker: Chateau de Roquefort
Region: Provence
Appellation: Cotes de Provence
Grape: Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Clairette
Viticulture: Vegan, Organic, Biodynamic
ABV: 13.0%
Bottle: 75cl
